When Texas Freezes Over
Who would have thought it could happen?! Just when you think Texas has thrown everything it possibly can at you (tornadoes, hurricanes, heat waves, etc.) it keeps on coming with surprises. My year and half in this Lone Star State has been something memorable. Today was definitely a day to not forget.
Kristen called me Wednesday morning and I was already awake - that alone should make the day memorable. It's not often I'm awake at 9am on a non-school day. Most of the day was spent with Kristen and braving the elements as it was below freezing with icy roads.
Now I know I've mentioned before, and also in my profile, I'm from Florida. Something one should know about Florida: we don't have icy roads...EVER! This was definitely a milestone and learning experience all at the same time. Yes, driving on icy roads became my lesson of the day! The lesson: "Avoid driving on icy roads!"
The evening finished off nice with chili, the movie Elf, and me spazzing as to whether or not my flight back home to Florida was going to be cancelled or not. The chili was the first time I actually cooked something in around a year. Most of my culinary life in seminary has been eating sandwiches, eating ramen, eating soup, and eating out. I was pleasantly pleased with how it turned out.
Well that sums up the day Texas froze over. If this follows me to Florida I'm going to lose my mind. As it stands right now my flight is going to leave on time =)
I'll keep all of you posted over the next month with happenings back in Florida. Take care and stay warm.
