Two Movie Quotes I Adore...

"And Lord knows, kids like Henry need a hero. Courageous, self-sacrificing people. Setting examples for all of us. Everybody loves a hero. People line up for them, cheer them, scream their names. And years later, they'll tell how they stood in the rain for hours just to get a glimpse of the one who taught them how to hold on a second longer. I believe there's a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows us to die with pride, even though sometimes we have to be steady, and give up the thing we want the most. Even our dreams." - Aunt May "Spider-man 2"

"No spell can reawaken the dead, I trust you know that. Dark and difficult times lie ahead. Now is the time that we must choose between what is right, and what is easy." - Albus Dumbledore "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire"

Curse You Tom Brady!

If you've known me for any amount of time, you know that I love my Jacksonville Jaguars. You would also know that the thorn in my side is the New England Patriots. This season my most loved and most hated team face each other in mortal kombat this Saturday.

I've been born and raised in Jacksonville, FL. It wasn't until I moved here to Texas that I even knew what life was like outside of Florida. Today, J-ville is having an identity crisis. On one side, Jacksonville is a small town with Southern hospitality. On the other side, Jacksonville is a hustling and bustling metropolitan city. My hometown is on rise with population growth. When Jacksonville got an NFL franchise, no one was happier than my family (we're all a bunch of football nuts).

The New England Patriots are good - I'll give credit where credit is due. In the last four years they've one three Super Bowl championships, including the one last year in Jacksonville. They're solid. They have a spectacular defense. They know the meaning of "team." They can improvise like no other. They have Tom Brady - yeah I really don't like him.

Tom Brady is a solid quarterback, but I guess it's just what he does off the field that drives me wild. "Josh, what does Tom Brady do off the field," you may ask? He does NOTHING. True, it's his life and he can do whatever he wants with his popularity and money, but it irks me when a man who has what he has does nothing with his gifts. What makes matters worse is my "sister" Beth loves him like crazy because he's cute. I did the unthinkable and actually got her his jersey for Christmas too.

On the flip side of Tom Brady, I must admit that Warrick Dunn is probably my most loved player in the NFL. He doesn't play for Jacksonville (and I regret that he doesn't), but he does so much for people. When Dunn lost his mother at age 18, he became the sole caretaker of his family. When he got drafted to Tampa Bay, he started a charity that gives houses to single moms who work hard to support their families. "We supply the food, furniture, and home. They supply the clothes," is what Dunn says of his charity. He's a stand-up guy and winner of the Walter Payton Man of the Year award. He's an All-Pro running back, and an FSU alumnus ;)

About every year the Patriots are in the playoffs I scream the phrase, "Curse you, Tom Brady! Curse you and your blasted Patriots!" The Pats are undefeated in the playoffs under Bill Bill Belichick. Hopefully, I'll be screaming, "Ha Ha! Die Patriots!" We shall see...
