With Great Power...

Sorry for taking so long to post again. I've been a lazy bum all weekend long. I went to Six Flags Saturday. Very, very fun. I think I found the answer to my last post. One of the first video games to hit the XBox 360 will be Ultimate Spiderman...I'm excited for it now =)

Which brings me to what I want to write about today. I'm going to try and explain why I love Spiderman. Many of my Florida friends and family are already aware that I have a small obsession with the webbed wall crawler, but because my dorm room has basic decorating, my Texas friends never saw the tip of my red and blue iceberg.

I'm a geek and and make no secret about it, and, for all the geeks in the world, including yours truly, Spidey is the hero for us. Spidey is like me. He is a geek/nerd at heart. He makes wise cracks in the face of danger. He maintains a sense of humor. And, in the end, though he does the right thing, he almost never gets the girl. After reading each issue I was left saying, "This guy lives my life just with super powers!"

If you've ever read the comics or seen the cartoons and/or movies you're already aware of Peter Parker and his tranformation. You're also aware of the driving phrase that keeps Spiderman going. All fans can quote it like it was from the Gospel itself. "With great power comes great responsibility."

That is what always struck a chord with me. My strongest convictions aren't always the sins of commission (the bad things we do) but the sins of omission (the good things we didn't do). As the story goes, the one thug Parker let get away was the one thug who killed the person he loved the most. I too paid similar prices. If you have the chance to do something good, the opportunity to stand up for what is right, or the privilege to share the Good News with someone, take it. At the very least, you brightened someone's day. You never know how the smallest act of kindness can change a life forever.

In my room back home hangs a picture of Spidey a friend gave me a few years back. Under it states the following: "The world is a dangerous place. Not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing." True words to ponder.

The 180 and X-Box 360

As many of you are already aware, I tend to enjoy my video games. Heck, I love video games period. G4, the 24 hour video game channel, is a Favorite on my cable box; however, something very unsettling has happend over this semester.

G4 and other video game sites are now saying the new Microsoft X-Box gaming system will be called the X-Box 360. MTV is officially unveiling it in May. Rumor has it the system will be white/platinum in design, and, o yes, more powerful than any other system to date. Something I should really sink my teeth into...and that's the problem. I'm not all that excited about it. To be honest, I haven't played many video games this semester other than City of Heroes and NFL Street2.

What's wrong with me? I'm not depressed. I've been kind of busy, but not nearly as busy as I used to be. Surely I'm not "growing up." As I've said before, guys don't grow up they just get older and the toys become bigger and more expensive. Dare I even toy with the thought? Dare I even say it?...Am I slowly moving away from video games?!?!? I pray this isn't true.

Hopefully this is just a small phase. Hopefully I'm one awesome, mind-blowing video game away from getting out of this rut. Maybe X-Box 360 will have something in there lineup that will rectify the issue. Until then, let us all pray. =)

I said I would use the first few posts just telling all you about me and ranting. I used some questions from old email surveys. I keep old ones from over the years I filled out just to see how much I've changed over the years. Sometimes it's surreal - as if the dude I was at age 18 was a totally different person. "I actually listened to that?"..."DUDE! I remember that movie!" Stuff like that.
On a side note, belly dancing is very fun. ;)

What have I done?!

As the result of people twisting my arm about it *cough, General cough EK*, I have now created a blog. No matter how hard I try to escape it they keep on pulling me back in. So yeah, this is my blog. Sadly, I still think my life is too uneventful to really share much, but we'll see what happens. Feel free to post comments and whatnot if you wish, and I'll try to update this thing every so often. If I see people actually enjoy this thing then I'll keep up with it.
I think the first few posts I'll just rant about certain things and tell all yall about myself. Hey it's my blog dang it and I'll do what I want! =) Anyway, take care and God bless.
